Main Panel vs. Subpanel: What’s the Difference?
A main panel is the primary point from where electricity enters your home from the utility company. It controls and protects your home’s entire electrical system and contains both the main breaker and primary circuit breakers.
A subpanel is a smaller distribution panel that branches off from the main panel and is used to expand the electrical system, particularly when there are new additions to the property or high-demand equipment.
YellowBall specializes in installing, maintaining and upgrading both main and subpanels and will work with you on whatever your home’s electrical system demands.
YellowBall’s Main & Subpanel Installation Services
When you choose YellowBall, you’re not just choosing a company to work on your new main or subpanel installation. You’re becoming a member of the YellowBall family for life, where we see you not just as a customer, but as your neighbor.
Your five-step process in installing main and/or subpanels in your home will include:
Site evaluation, where we’ll inspect your property, review your current electrical system and assess your energy usage, future needs and code requirements.
Custom design and planning, where we’ll design a panel layout that’s safe and balanced. For main panels, we evaluate incoming service from the utility. For subpanels, we determine the best location, feeder wiring and circuits to be supported.
Permits, utility coordination and scheduling, where we handle all necessary permits and documentation and coordinate with you and your utility provider for a smooth installation.
Installation and testing, where we’ll seamlessly install your new panel, bond and ground everything properly and verify safe operation everywhere before restoring power.
Final inspection and walkthrough, where we’ll assist with final inspections and walk you through the panel’s ins and outs, while always being around to answer questions.
Panel upgrades for modern living.
